Relentless mayhem.
Protests in Washington? Check. Protests around the country? Check. Another day in President Trump’s America.
All Babies Welcome Here
The 44th annual March for Life took place on January 27. Speaking to the crowd were Vice-President Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway. Unlike almost every other story on this site, Two Weeks Ago News didn’t see a lot of outrage at the March for Life on social media. At this point, the event may be old (boring) news. No one gets too worked up any more about a bunch of pro-life advocates gathering annually in Washington. In January. For 44 years. Through Republican and Democratic administrations. Through pro-life and pro-choice administrations. Remaining dedicated to the mission. And just so we have them on record, here are the key issues from this year’s rally:
All Immigrants Welcome Here
Protestors with a different agenda gathered quickly and continued to do so at airports across the country to voice their anger at the Executive Order regarding immigration bans. Since the announcement of the order, people in airports and elsewhere denounced the ban and advocated inclusion, reminding the world that we are a nation of immigrants.
A federal judge reviewed the order and issued a stay against the deportation of valid visa holders. The ACLU took on cases of individuals facing deportation and/or who were refused entry.
So here’s the thing. In many ways, these protests couldn’t be more different; in other ways, they represent ideas Americans hold very dear. Welcoming new people into our society and offering them the support they need to thrive.
Protesting is a tried and true way to voice support, outrage or solidarity. Civil discourse and disagreement is almost as old as civilization itself. Two Weeks Ago News says good for everyone involved in these. We have no doubt these are fresh in everyone’s minds. Well, the airport protests probably are. The Pro-Life protest? Maybe not.
So let's try this one, too. Two Weeks Ago News Quiz:
Who is William Ryan Owens?
3.) The serviceman killed in Yemen, in a raid planned and approved by President Obama and executed under President Trump. Although targeted toward al-Quaida militants, the raid killed about 30 people, including Anwar al-Awlaki, 8-year-old-daughter of Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical Yemeni-American cleric who was killed in 2011. Three senior al Qaeda leaders were killed: Abdul-Raouf al-Dhahab, Sultan al-Dhahab, and Seif al-Nims.
A third family member, Tarek al-Dhahab, was the leader of al-Qaeda in Bayda but was reportedly killed in a family feud.
Observation: the first and last story here are SO two weeks ago.

- Appoint an antiabortion justice to the Supreme Court.
- Make the Hyde Amendment (no federal funds toward abortions) into a permanent law rather than the one-year provision that has been extended each year from 1976 to the present.
- Ban abortion nationwide after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
- Stop federal funds to Planned Parenthood, unless they stop performing abortions.
